Yes — we are 100% mobile. On Point Drug Testing comes to your workplace, job site, office, or any San Diego County location you choose. There is no clinic, no waiting room, and no need to send your employees off-site.
We operate Monday through Sunday, 7AM to 7PM. Call or text us at 619-241-4415 and we'll get someone to your location same day in most cases.
For most of San Diego County we can typically arrive within 1–3 hours of your call, depending on the time of day and location. Same-day service is available 7 days a week. For post-accident situations, call us immediately at 619-241-4415 — DOT post-accident tests have strict time windows.
Yes. Our collectors are certified to perform DOT urine specimen collections compliant with 49 CFR Part 40. We follow all federal chain-of-custody and handling procedures required for DOT-regulated employers.
Yes. For Non-DOT rapid urine screens, we can arrive same day and results are available on-site before we leave. For DOT testing, the specimen is sent to a SAMHSA-certified lab and results typically take 1–3 business days.
The Collection Process
Each individual collection takes approximately 10–15 minutes. For groups, we work efficiently and can typically test multiple employees back-to-back. We'll give you an estimated time when you book.
Donors should bring a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, or state ID). That's it. We bring all supplies and paperwork. For DOT tests, we complete the federal Chain of Custody Form on-site.
Yes — eating and drinking normally will not affect a standard urine drug screen. However, donors should avoid excessive amounts of water right before the test, as this can result in a dilute specimen, which may require a retest.
If a donor is unable to provide a urine specimen, they will be given up to 40 oz of water and 3 hours to provide one per DOT guidelines. If they still cannot produce a specimen, it may be considered a refusal to test depending on the circumstances. We will document everything properly.
Standard urine collections are unobserved — the donor provides the specimen privately. Observed collections are only required under specific circumstances defined by federal regulations, such as a return-to-duty test or when there is documented reason to suspect specimen tampering.
If a specimen is rejected at the lab (due to temperature, adulteration, or other issues), we will coordinate a retest. We document all chain-of-custody steps carefully to minimize this. For DOT tests, the MRO (Medical Review Officer) makes the final determination on any non-negative or invalid result.
Non-DOT Testing
A 5-panel urine drug screen tests for five substance categories: THC (marijuana), Cocaine, Opiates, Methamphetamine, and PCP. It is the most common test for general pre-employment and random workplace testing programs. Our Non-DOT 5-panel rapid test is $50 and results are available on-site.
A 10-panel test screens for everything in the 5-panel plus Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, Methadone, Propoxyphene, and Methaqualone (Quaaludes). It's used when employers need broader coverage, particularly in safety-sensitive industries. Our Non-DOT 10-panel rapid test is $65 with on-site results.
Results from our CLIA-waived rapid test kits are available on-site within minutes — before our collector leaves your location. A negative result is delivered immediately. Any non-negative result would require confirmation at a certified laboratory.
Yes. California employers can still test for marijuana and take action on positive results, particularly for safety-sensitive positions. Under California law as of 2024, employers may not penalize employees for off-duty marijuana use, but can still enforce policies for on-duty impairment in many industries. We recommend consulting your HR or legal team on your specific policy. We do not provide legal advice.
The most common reasons San Diego employers call us are: pre-employment screening, random testing programs, post-accident testing, and reasonable suspicion testing. We handle all of these for Non-DOT employers throughout San Diego County.
DOT Testing
DOT drug tests are federally mandated urine tests required for safety-sensitive employees regulated by the Department of Transportation. They follow strict procedures under 49 CFR Part 40, including specific chain-of-custody forms, SAMHSA-certified labs, and MRO (Medical Review Officer) review of all results.
DOT testing is required across six modal agencies: FMCSA (trucking/CDL drivers), FAA (aviation), FRA (railroad), FTA (mass transit), USCG (maritime/Coast Guard), and PHMSA (pipeline). If your employees hold a CDL or work in any of these regulated areas, you likely need DOT testing.
The DOT 5-panel test screens for: Marijuana (THC), Cocaine, Opioids (including heroin, codeine, morphine, hydrocodone, hydromorphone, oxycodone, oxymorphone), Phencyclidine (PCP), and Amphetamines/Methamphetamine. This panel is federally mandated and cannot be modified by the employer.
Negative DOT results are typically reported within 1–3 business days after the lab receives the specimen. Non-negative results require MRO review, which may take additional time. There is no rapid/on-site option for DOT tests — all specimens must go to a SAMHSA-certified lab.
For FMCSA (trucking), alcohol testing must be completed within 8 hours of the accident and drug testing within 32 hours. If these windows are missed, document why. Call us immediately after any accident — we can mobilize quickly. Time is critical for post-accident compliance.
We can perform the physical collections for your DOT random program. For full program management including consortium enrollment, random selection, and MRO services, call us at 619-241-4415 and we'll discuss your options and connect you with the right resources for your fleet size.
For Employers
For DOT-regulated employers, a written policy is federally required. For non-DOT employers in California, it is strongly recommended. A written policy protects you legally, qualifies you for workers' compensation discounts in many cases, and makes your testing program defensible. See our Employer Resources page for guidance.
Yes. We regularly handle group testing for San Diego businesses — construction crews, warehouses, transportation fleets, and staffing agencies. We work through your team efficiently with minimal disruption to your operations. Call us to discuss scheduling for larger groups.
Reasonable suspicion testing (also called "for cause" testing) is conducted when a trained supervisor observes specific, documented signs of drug or alcohol impairment at work — such as slurred speech, erratic behavior, or the smell of alcohol. This type of test must be based on observable facts, not rumors. Call us immediately when suspicion arises — time matters.
We maintain records of all collections we perform. For DOT employers, federal regulations specify exact record retention requirements (1–5 years depending on result type). For non-DOT employers, we recommend keeping your own records as well. We can provide documentation upon request.
Yes. We work with San Diego businesses on ongoing random testing programs. Call us at 619-241-4415 to discuss your needs — fleet size, industry, testing frequency — and we'll set up a program that works for your schedule and budget.
Results
For employer-ordered tests, results go to the Designated Employer Representative (DER) — typically the HR manager or owner. For DOT tests, all results are first reviewed by an MRO before being reported to the employer. Individual donors may also receive results depending on the program.
A non-negative result from a rapid test means the screen detected a substance above the cutoff level. It is not the same as a confirmed positive. Non-negative results are sent to a certified lab for confirmation testing (GC/MS). A confirmed positive is then reviewed by an MRO before being reported to the employer.
Yes, some legally prescribed medications can trigger a non-negative screen. For DOT tests, the MRO will contact the donor to verify any valid prescription before reporting a positive to the employer. Donors should be prepared to provide documentation of current prescriptions if asked — but should NOT disclose medications to the collector, only to the MRO.
Yes. Drug test results are treated as confidential medical information. DOT regulations strictly limit who may receive results. Non-DOT employers should also have confidentiality provisions in their written drug-free workplace policy. Results are never shared with unauthorized parties.
DNA Specimen Collection
We perform certified buccal swab (cheek swab) DNA specimen collections for paternity testing, immigration cases, legal proceedings, and personal use. We maintain strict chain-of-custody protocols required for legal and court-admissible results.
A legal DNA test follows strict chain-of-custody procedures, requires identity verification, and produces results admissible in court (paternity, immigration, estate, etc.). A personal/informational test is less formal and the results cannot be used in legal proceedings. We perform legal chain-of-custody collections.
Call us at 619-241-4415 to schedule your DNA collection. We will discuss your specific situation, required parties, and arrange a time that works for everyone involved. Mobile or office visit options are available.
Pricing & Payment
Our Non-DOT rapid urine screens are $50 for 5-panel and $65 for 10-panel, payable online via Square. DOT urine specimen collections are custom quoted based on your fleet size and program — call us at 619-241-4415. DNA collection pricing is also by quote.
We accept online payment via Square for Non-DOT tests — any major credit or debit card. You can pay securely online before we arrive. For DOT and DNA services, we'll discuss payment when you call.
Our standard pricing covers most of San Diego County. For locations at the outer edges of our service area or for large multi-employee bookings, call us to discuss — we'll always be upfront about any additional fees before you commit.
No contracts required. We work with businesses on a per-test or program basis with no long-term commitments. This is one of the advantages of working with a local, independent San Diego company instead of a national chain.
